To the Members of Local Union 1686:

The Nomination Meeting for the nomination of Local Union No. 1686 local officers, delegates to the District Council, and Convention Delegates will be held Wednesday, April 15, 2026, starting at 6:30 pm at the following location: Local 1686 Headquarters, 3100 Horseshoe Bend Road, Helena, Montana 59602.

Local Union 1686 will be electing the following officer positions: President-Delegate-Convention Delegate, Vice President-Delegate, Recording Secretary-Convention Delegate, Secretary-Treasurer-Business Manager-Delegate-Convention Delegate, Sergeant-at-Arms, Auditors (3), and Executive Board Members (3).

All members properly nominated shall be nominated by two (2) other members in good standing and shall be present at the time of nomination, unless absent from the meeting on business for the Local Union, for the District Council, or for the International Union, or excused for just cause by a vote of the membership of the Local Union and shall indicate immediately upon nomination whether it is accepted or declined. Once a nomination is accepted, and the nominee has been deemed to be qualified by the Judges of Election, the nominee has no right to withdraw such candidacy prior to the election due to unavailability or unwillingness of the nominee to serve in office. (Please note: The Election Judges will screen candidates who accept nomination for eligibility to run for office in the Local Union at the end of nominations. If the candidate is not present, the Election Judges will set another day on which the candidate will be screened in person for eligibility to run for office in the Local Union.)

If the election is contested, the Officers’ Election, the Election of District Council Delegates, and the Election of Delegates to the International Convention will take place by mail ballot. Ballots will be mailed to members on May 1, 2026, and must be RECEIVED AT THE POST OFFICE BOX DESIGNATED FOR THE RETURN OF THE VOTED BALLOTS NO LATER THAN 11:00 a.m. ON May 29, 2026, to be counted in the Election. Only members in good standing will be eligible to vote, so if you are unsure of your membership status, please contact the SECRETARY-TREASURER, Adam Haight, at the Local Union 1686 Helena office in person or by telephone at 406-442-1441 between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon and 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.
